Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, that the Rabi area coverage in the country so far has increased by over 24 lakh hectares over last year. He said, the wheat coverage has increased by over 14 lakh hectares as compared to the corresponding period of last year which is the highest ever since the last four years.
While taking stock of the Rabi crops position with senior officials, Mr Tomar expressed hope that with favourable soil moisture conditions, better live water storage position and comfortable availability of fertilisers across the country, Rabi crops area coverage is expected to accelerate further in the coming days and a good Rabi harvest can be expected.
As on 25th of this month, total area sown under Rabi crops reported was 358.59 lakh hectares as compared to 334.46 lakh hectares of the corresponding period of last year.
